Recession in OKC?

4 Aug 2009

There are signs that indicate that the free fall of the American economy is slowing down.  But the light at the end of the "recession tunnel” is not so bright.  Why?  The key factor for economic recovery, job growth, does not exist in most parts of the country.  In addition, consumer confidence at all time low, indications suggest that it may take quite some time for the housing market to substantially recover, and the anemic credit market and rising interest rates will offset any inflation-adjusted growth.

The Oklahoma City market, however, does not fall into this category.  OKC boasts a very low unemployment rate, is a natural gas and oil driven market, and have a well-diversified economy that will help ensure stability and growth for years to come.
